dr. nick alder, ph.d. (they/themme) is a creative co-conspirator, healing and liberation spacemaker, and community designer committed to making healing irresistible — word to toni cade bambara. their work nurtures the creative spirit and cultivates ecosystems of care, worldbuilding, and possibility. guided by the words of audre lorde, “without community, there is no liberation,” nick builds relational spaces where Black queer creativity can breathe, shapeshift, and thrive.
dr. nick is a community-based psychologist and the founder of Radical Healing Lab, a creative incubator and digital sanctuary for Black queer healing arts and liberatory imagination.
as a cultural worker and community builder, nick creates intergenerational spaces that center the Black genderqueer spectrum. through these portals, they co-dream experience design, digital storytelling, and community architecture with the award-winning cultural hub Party Noire, which they co-founded and have nurtured for over a decade.
their practice embraces research as ritual and art as infrastructure. nick's current creative inquiry centers devotion, ancestral technology, and Black feminist healingways 〰️ honoring both the nonlinear and the sacred in everyday creative life. their work moves in spirals, weaving study, grief work, creative facilitation, and digital innovation into living archives for collective resilience and liberation.
their current creative side quests include learning to code with Seeda School, DJ’ing, and experimenting with digital collage, sound design, and speculative storytelling.
I am committed to designing portals for collective healing and liberation at the intersections of art, technology, and community. As an anti-disciplinary artist and healing technologist, my mission is to cultivate ecosystems where Black queer creativity not only thrives but regenerates, grounded in ancestral wisdom and attuned to the possibilities of digital futures.
Guided by the principles of Black feminist worldbuilding, my work moves in spirals: nonlinear, relational, and ritual-rich. I build immersive experiences, digital sanctuaries, and co-creative infrastructures that honor the aliveness of Black queer life and invite others into new ways of imagining, gathering, and transforming.
Through storytelling, speculative research, and intentional design, I create spaces that are both reflective and catalytic. These are places where grief can move, joy can shapeshift, and care is practiced as a form of resistance. My commitment is to make healing and liberation tangible, embodied, and widely accessible — not abstract ideals, but practices we can return to and evolve together.
